OHS Health Science classes recently welcomed guest speakers Ramona Hanks, an instructor from the LSCO EMS Program, and Morgan Shores, AuD. Mrs Hanks visited with the LSCO dual credit Medical Terminology classes about the different ways EMTs and Paramedics are able to maintain a patient’s airway. Students also enjoyed the hands on practice with endotracheal intubation. Mrs. Shores, an OHS graduate herself, shared information with Principles of Health Science classes about her educational and work journey as an Audiologist. Students were able to use stethoscopes to listen to how a hearing aid changes the sounds we hear, and learn about cochlear implants. Thank you to these wonderful guest speakers for inspiring the future health professionals at OHS!

Orangefield High School would like to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Richardson, Principal of Orangefield Junior High, and the entire OJH staff for their collaboration with the OHS Career & Technical Education (CTE) Department in making the recent 8th grade campus visit a wonderful success. Their support in allowing students to visit the high school provided a valuable opportunity for students to experience firsthand the many pathways and possibilities that await them at the next level.
It was truly a pleasure welcoming the 8th graders to campus. The students were exceptionally well behaved, respectful, and engaged throughout the visit. They represented Orangefield Junior High with pride, demonstrating a strong commitment to learning as they were introduced to the wide range of CTE programs offered at Orangefield High School, including Agricultural Technology and Mechanical Systems, Animal Science, Business Management, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services, Family and Community Services, Graphic Design and Interactive Media, Teaching and Training, and Plant Science.
A special thank you is also extended to Mrs. Kimberly Spears, FCCLA Sponsor, along with the FCCLA student officers and members, for leading the 8th graders through the CTE classes and helping make the experience informative, engaging, and enjoyable.
We are grateful for this partnership and for the important role Orangefield Junior High plays in preparing students for a successful transition to high school. We look forward to continuing to work together to support our students and showcase the opportunities available to them as they move forward.
