Students in Mrs. Kimberly Spears' Education and Training Program bussed over to the elementary on Friday, March 15th, and hosted the annual Rodeo Day for the kindergarten. They exhibited teamwork and leadership skills. The HS students created seven stations for the kindergarteners that correlated with their social studies unit on Texas. The weather on Friday made us deviate from our original plan; but it turned out fine, and a great time was had by all! Special thanks to the kindergarten team for having us!

We would like to congratulate Senior, Blaine Lenard, Class of 2024, who was accepted into the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band. We are proud of the work you did at OHS and excited to see you continue to play in college!

Guest speakers from Christus Orange and the Port Arthur Fire Department visited with Health Science classes on Monday. Angela Webb, RN, and Jeremy Kaskos, PAFD Captain, shared information on heart function and statistics on CPR survival rates. Students got hands-on practice of both adult and infant chest compressions, as well as the opportunity to learn about a new technology that is currently beginning to be used in our area. The PAFD has a device called an AutoPulse that is used as part of resuscitative measures for patients undergoing cardiac arrest. The machine is able to provide chest compressions that are more effective than manual compressions and has been proven to increase survival rates following sudden cardiac arrest.
