Orangefield Junior High is home to some of the hardest-working staff in Texas! Our faculty and staff work tirelessly to provide a safe, supportive, and effective learning environment for every student who walks through our doors. Many of our team members received nominations for this spotlight, but we want to take a moment to recognize one of our most dedicated: Maureen Woods. Mrs. Woods has served our students and staff in multiple capacities this year. From lunch detentions to BIC room to hall monitoring, Mrs. Woods is a staple in holding students accountable. Mrs. Woods also works with students who are out of class for multiple days at a time and who may need a "catch up". It is people like Mrs. Woods who make OJH such a special place. Thank you, Mrs. Woods, for seeing a need and filling a need!

Tuesday, the Bobcats took on the Anahuac Panthers and fell short in both contests. The 7th graders fought hard for their shot at the district title but fell short, 8–24. The 8th graders started off in a back-and-forth battle, but some costly mistakes caught up with them down the stretch, 24–50.

Our 7th grade teams both fell to the Warriors. Highlights for the teams were Sadie Arrington on serves and Emma Josephson with serve receives. Taylor Quinn and Aria Lee had a kill each, Emilia Cole with 2 assists. Amy Ou led in serves with 4 aces, Brooklyn Mansfield with an assist, Rylie Roberts led in serve receives as well as attacks.

The 8th Grade B team fell to the Warren Warriors in two sets. Leading servers on the night were Adley Burch and Kinzlee Peveto. Zoe Jeanis received serves with ease! Olivia Cole, Zoe Jeanis, and Adley Burch led in digs. Arielle Walters, Raegan Brooks, Trinity Spain, and Adley Burch all contributed attacks at the net. Assists came from Blakely Peveto and Kaydence Leblanc. The Lady Bobcats have a record of 5-2.

(21-25, 25-17, 15-11) Leading in serves was Rylie Peevey, behind the line for 20 total serves, Next was Kamryn Breaux with 4 aces. Back court was led by Kamryn Farias with 6 digs to keep the Bobcats in the game. Raegan Gallien led in assists, with 8- Maisyn Revia had 4. Rebekah Burt totaled 4 kills with Kamryn Breaux next up with 3. Austyn Spain had 2 blocks that sealed the win for our Bobcats. Our 8th grade A team Record is 6-2 for the season with one game left!

On Saturday October 17th, OJH 7th grader Lorelei McLemore competed at the UIL Twirling Solo and Ensemble Contest hosted at Port Neches High School. She not only twirled one, but two batons in her solo!! Lorelei received a 1 on her solo earning her the highest rating! We are so proud of Lorelei and are excited to see what the future holds for her!
Last Thursday the Bobcats took on the Mauriceville Panthers and won both games. The 7th graders had another great team win 31-6 scoring in all three facets of the game. The 8th graders had to grind out their win due to an injury at quarterback, but found a way to come out on top 22-18.
Two games, two wins! Way to go, Bobcats! Keep working hard and making us proud!

Last week, the OJH Bobcats played their Homecoming games against Buna and came up short in both. The 7th grade Bobcats fell 14-6 but fought until the very end, marching down the field in the closing seconds of the game. The 8th graders battled a tough Cougar team and fell 20-0.

Ford led the team in attacks and added two blocks, while Pollet led in serves and assists. The entire back row played a strong first set, passing with precision. Although the Lady Bobcats fell to the Lady Horns in two sets, their teamwork and progress were exciting to see!

Our 8A had a great showing of team play with a 2 set win (25-22, 25-21). Leading in serves was Jesse Gautreaux with 8, Austyn Spain, Kamryn Farias and Raegan Gallien and Rylie Peevey all followed with 5 each. Emmie McFatter led in kills with 5, while Austyn Spain had 3. Total team attacks totaled 29, which is a testament to their aggressive game play. Jesse Gautreaux led in blocks, with 3. The backcourt was protected by Lily Traxler, Rylie Peevey, Tenley Kibodeaux and Kamryn Farias. 8A improves to a 4-2 District record.

OJH Paper Rock Scissors Contest to Benefit Complex Needs Students!
Thursday, October 15th, OJH students will have the opportunity to compete in a paper rock scissors contest. The morning of the 15th students will be able to purchase up to five bead necklaces for $1 each. They will then compete with their peers the last five minutes of every class period with the ultimate goal of being able to challenge a teacher. Beads won from a teacher will earn you a spot in the finals, which will be played during the pep rally that day.

Ms. Benton's 8th grade Principles of Agriculture classes built the 4th annual Mega Mum for Homecoming. This year's mum stands at an impressive 24 feet, and took 109 students, 5 days of teamwork, 1,400 coffee filters, 40 feet of twinkle lights, and a whole lot of Bobcat pride to come to life!
From the club emblems woven into the bubblegum braid, to the "We Believe" message running on the loop chain down the middle, and the 100-year logo proudly featured on the "Go Bobcats" ribbon, every detail tells a story of our students, our school, and our Bobcat spirit.
A "MEGA" well done to our students who created this year's mum! Happy Homecoming, Bobcats!

The Lady Bobcat 7B volleyball team fell to the Kountze Lionettes in two sets. The final scores were 15-8 and 15-11. Taylor Quinn led the way with two aces and a block, while Sadie Arrington added an ace and Aria Lee contributed a kill. The Lady Bobcats will look to build on their efforts and continue improving as the season moves forward.
