OJH Football:
This week the Bobcats had two games on the road against Coldspring. They won both in dominant fashion. 7th grade won 50-6 and the 8th grade won 24-0.

OJH Football:
Last week the Bobcats had a busy week. Two different days of football and some exciting games.

The B team played on Tuesday taking on the St. Anne's Wildcats. Unfortunately, they came up just short losing 22-44. Ryker Roberts started at quarterback and had himself a game. He did everything he could to help move the ball up and down the field and try to make big plays. Roberts completed 9 passes and ran for about 90 yards on the night, converting a two point conversion. Luke Gilmore scored the Cats three touchdowns on the night while also converting a two point conversion. Karsen Hardy held it down at corner, squaring up anyone that tried to run on him. The size and speed of the Wildcats just proved to be overwhelming for the Cats but they did show much improvement on both sides of the ball.

The 7th grade A team was still looking to grab their first district win against the Panthers of Anahuac. Unfortunately, that will have to wait another week because they fell short 0-26. Pressure up the middle and some tackling issues continued to plague the Cats. Reagan Dearing showed some aggressive running this week with his move into the back field. Tripp Kinchen was a bull in a china shop playing middle linebacker this week. Another week of practice and grinding will help these guys get that first district win.

The 8th grade had a big game against a massive and physical Anahuac team. Last year it was a two point game and the same proved to be true again this year with the Cats winning 16-14. Even though the Bobcats put up one of their lower scoring games it was still one of their best games. The line went to work allowing Landon "the Anomaly" Agerton to take over the game. His speed as it usually is was unmatched and his sheer will to punish tacklers at the end of every run proved too much for the Panthers to handle. Agerton scored both of the touchdowns going around the edge and breaking the tackles to score. One of those was on a 4th and 21 gutsy call by Coach Legate lining up in the Wildcat after Larsen Richard went out due to injury. Agerton also had 23 tackles on the night making sure his Bobcat teammates kept their district title hopes alive. Kreed Spears and Connor Haley did their part in bulldozing over the defenders and standing their ground on defense trying to take on the Panther blockers.

This week there will only be two games played in Coldspring on Thursday starting at 5:00pm.

OJH Volleyball vs. East Chambers: 09/29/25
7B
The Lady Bobcats brought home another big win as they defeated the Lady Buccaneers in two straight sets, 15–10 and 15–9. The team played with confidence and energy, showing just how much they’ve grown since the start of the season. Strong teamwork, consistent serves, and solid communication kept the momentum on the Bobcats’ side throughout both sets. Christina Doucet led the team in serves with 4 aces, Rebekah Burt added 3 aces, Zoe Jeanis contributed 2 aces, and Raegan Gallien and Kaydence LeBlanc both finished the night with an ace each. The Lady Bobcats move into next week with a 3-0 district record.


8B
The 8th Grade B team came out strong and took care of business with a straight-sets win, 15–10 and 15–9! Paisley Cobb dominated at the service line with 5 aces, while Baylor O’Quinn and Lilian Anderson each added 2. On the attack, Kinsley Brantley and Sophia Lilly delivered key kills to keep the momentum going. Great teamwork, strong serves, and smart plays led to a solid team victory! The Bobcats improve to 3-0 on the season.


7A
The Lady Bobcats fought hard but ultimately fell to the Buccaneers in two sets. Despite the loss, the team showed strong effort and teamwork throughout the match.

Kamryn Breaux led the team at the service line with 5 aces, followed closely by Emmie McFatter, who added 4 of her own. Tya Hughes and Tenley Kibodeaux stood out in serve receive, providing solid support in the back row. At the net, Austyn Spain and Emmie McFatter each recorded 2 kills, leading the team in offensive points.

The Lady Bobcats continue to grow and improve with each game and look forward to their next opportunity to compete.


8A Closed the night with a close match against the Lady Bucs! Splitting the first two Sets and coming up short in the 3rd. (22-25, 25- 21, 8-15) Effort was shown across the board as Adalynn Worthy led in serves, contributing 6 Aces, Brooklyn Lee followed with 3 Aces. Backrow was led by Ava Worthy, with 6 digs, followed by Heaven Brickley with 4 digs. Attacks were better than ever, Brooklyn Lee with 5 Kills, Heaven Brickley with 3, Rebekah Mire 2, Sophia Odom and Mika Ragusa with one each. Setting them up for success was Emma Arnold as well as Lee, with 10 assists combined.


Buna is up next as we travel on October 6th for our next district match up!

Orangefield Junior High Student Council and NJHS went to Orangetober Festival Tuesday to help set up pumpkin displays for the City of Orange. A total of 64 students and 3 adults volunteered their time, spending 2 hours decorating the displays for the festival.

Everything is bigger in Texas... or should we say MEGA?!

Ms. Castillo's incredible 8th Grade Principles of Agriculture classes built the third-annual Mega Mum for Homecoming. This year's mum took 117 students 4 days of teamwork and creativity to bring this masterpiece to life. Standing tall at an impressive 21 feet, this giant mum is crafted entirely from cardboard and construction paper and the flower part alone was made with 1,600 individually placed coffee filters!

This year's mum highlights some of Orangefield's heritage, traditions, and school involvements. The pump jack and oil derrick represent our communities' beginnings as the Orange Oil Field, 'We Believe" on the loop chain pays homage to Chad Coulter and our belief in each other and ourselves, and the bubblegum chain on the left of the mum features many different sports, clubs, and activities that students are involved in. In addition to this being the largest mum Ms. Castillo's class has ever built, this year, the Mega Mum will also be displayed at the Homecoming football game this Friday!

A "MEGA" well-done to the students who brought this year's mum to life! Happy Homecoming, Bobcats!

OJH Football vs. Hardin: On Thursday the Bobcats hopped on the old yellow dog and made a trek to Hardin. This was the District opener for the Bobcats looking to start strong in hopes of claiming a district championship. 7th graders took the field first as usual. Striking first with a touchdown to try and set the tempo early Stetson Bishop hit Knox Mansfield on a corner route and then punched in a 2 point conversion. Unfortunately, Hardin immediately answered using their size to bulldoze down the field for a touchdown and 2 point conversion. The Bobcats would later tie it up on a long run by Leilyn Marks who showed his speed for about 40 yards. Going late into the third tied at 14 the Hornets started to pull away and it was too much for the Cats to overcome eventually losing 14-26. The 8th grade came out with high energy courtesy of Mr. Landon Agerton gashing the defense run after run scoring his first of two touchdowns on the night. Larsen Richard had himself a big game showing out connecting with his receivers for close to 150 yards. Lexon Detwiler flashed the hands hauling in a handful of passes for close to 100 yds and a touchdown. Richard also connected with Kamden Smith-Slagle on a perfectly run route and even better ball for a 24 yard touchdown before the 4th quarter. Richard wasn’t finished yet as he decided to follow Agerton around the edge and punch it in for another score. Defense played extremely well picking off four different passes and smothering the run game. Channing Harrison, Traeson Addison, Smith-Slagle, and Richard each had an interception. Agerton punished the ball carrier repeatedly with a smile on his face as he was in the backfield all night long. Next week, is homecoming and there are two games days. The B team will play St. Anne’s on Tuesday at home starting at 5:30. The A teams will play Anahuac on Thursday starting at 5:00

The 8th grade B team kept the winning momentum going with a two set victory over the Panthers. Baylor O’ Quinn(3 Aces), Arabella Newby(2 Aces), and Paisley Cobb(2 Aces) were our top servers of the night. Aurora Varner, Sophia Lilly, and Arabella Newby each contributed at the net, combining for 4 total kills. On the defensive side, digs were spread evenly with Lily Kole, Baylor O’Quinn, Korbyn Lucas, and Kinsley Brantley each picking up one. Overall, it was a well rounded effort with contributions from across the lineup. The Lady Bobcats improve to 2-0 on the season.


7A 🔥 The girls’ serving game was on fire Monday night in Mauriceville! 🔥
Marley Webster lit up the court with a stunning 11 aces, leading the team in serves. Kamryn Breaux followed with 5 aces, while Rylie Peevey and Lily Traxler each added 2 to the total.

On defense, Tya Hughes and Kamryn Farias held strong in serve receive, keeping the momentum going. Andriana Webster was a force in the back row, leading the team in digs with impressive hustle and consistency.

At the net, Jesse Gautreaux dominated, leading the team in kills and bringing the heat on every attack.

This was a total team effort, and their energy was electric from start to finish. Let’s keep the fire going! 🔥💪🏐


8A
Closed the night with close losses in 2 sets to the Panthers (20-25, 22-25) Leading in defense was Ava Worthy with 7 digs, Abri Marino with 5. Adalynn Worthy and Brooklyn Lee led in attacks each contributing 4.


District record is now 2-1, with our next match up being at home on the 29th against the Buccaneers of East Chambers

OJH Volleyball PNG Tournament:
7A 🏐 PNG Tournament Recap 🏐
The girls opened the tournament with a strong showing against the LCM Bears. Kamryn Breaux and Rylie Peevey led the team from the service line, each scoring 2 aces. At the net, Jesse Gautreaux and Emmie McFatter brought the heat with multiple attacks on the front row. Defensively, Tenley Kibodeaux anchored the back row, leading the team in digs.

In their second matchup, the girls faced a tough battle against the Nederland Bulldogs, taking the game to three competitive sets before falling short. Despite the outcome, the team showed grit and determination.

Serving remained a strength, with Kamryn Breaux and Rylie Peevey each delivering 5 aces, and Andriana Webster adding 4 aces of her own. Emmie McFatter had a standout performance on the back row, leading the team with 5 digs, while Tenley Kibodeaux and Kamryn Farias held strong in serve receive, keeping the defense tight.

The team continues to grow and show great promise.



8A Our Lady Bobcats played beautifully together as they took on the Bears of Little Cypress in the first matchup of the PNG Tournament. Taking the win in straight sets. (28-26, 25-13) The 1st set had a tremendous comeback as Orangefield was down 18-8. Brooklyn Lee and Adalynn Worthy led that charge with their electric serving.

Next was Port Neches. Facing some tough competition in the Indians our girls battled well putting up a fight, but lost in 2 sets. (20-25, 17-25) Leading in back court defense was Ava Worthy , followed by Heaven Brickley leading in serves.

Saturday morning competition started again C.O Wilson. Beating the Pups in straight sets (25-10, 25-20) Our Bobcats came together and played as a team with Vanessa Ciancaglione, Brooklyn Lee, Mika Ragusa and Rebekah Mire contributing attacks that proved to be too much for C.O.

Last matchup was against Mauriceville, losing in straight sets (16-25, 20-25) wasn’t without leading server efforts from Mika Ragusa as well as leading in attacks.


The Bobcats went 2-2 for the tournament, extending their overall record to 6-4.

Attention OJH Parents/Guardians: With Homecoming next week, we wanted to share a reminder that OJH does not accept outside deliveries for students during the week. Students are allowed to wear mums or garters, but no noise making elements are allowed. Students will be asked to remove these items if an issue arises.
Also, please note that on Friday, October 3rd, OJH will not be accepting visitors for student lunches due to our adjusted schedule that day. Lunches can still be dropped off at the table in the lobby.
We appreciate your understanding as we work to create a focused and fun learning environment!

OJH Parents/Guardians: OJH will have two pep rallies this semester. We will have our PINK OUT pep rally on October 16th at 3:15pm in the junior high gym. Come dressed up in all pink to support the bobcats!
The second pep rally will be November 4th at 3:15 pm in the junior high gym with the theme "Caution: Beat the Cougars!" Come dressed in your construction best!

OJH Football vs. Hamshire Fannett: On Tuesday, the Bobcats took a road trip to face the Hamshire Fannett Shorthorns for their season opener. Out of the three games the Bobcats came away with two victories. The 7th and 8th grade B teams combined this week to try and steal their first win of the year. Unfortunately, they came up just short 6-20. They started off strong with Brennon Bloomfield blazing around the edge for the Bobcats only score of the game. The Bobcats began to run out of gas in the second half and the Shorthorns pulled away. Bloomfield led the offense along with Laiten Lytle running hard through the middle and around the edge. Luke Gilmore and Karsen Hardy held the defense together making several tackles keeping the Horns corralled the best that they could. 7th grade A team took the field next and looked a little sluggish coming off of the bye week. They quickly woke up as they made some big plays on offense, being led by Stetson Bishop. Bishop did a great job commanding his troops as Hunter Lincecum and Reagan Dearing continuously gashed the Shorthorn defense. Lincecum scored two touchdowns for the Cats while Dearing used his speed to get the edge for the other Bobcat offensive touchdown and a two point conversion. Bishop also punched in a two point conversion with some shifty moves of his own. Bishop connected with Dearing in the third for a potential score but was later discussed under some scrutiny and was overturned from being a touchdown. Late in the game the Horns were looking to make a last ditch effort to win the game, but those were quickly squashed by Knox Mansfield as he had a pick six to seal it. Tripp Kinchen hit everything that moved. Whether they were holding the football or just near it making punishing tackle after punishing tackle. Stetson Marshall had an interception early in the game to help the Bobcats score one of their early touchdowns. The Bobcats won their season opener 28-20 and look to grow on this early success. The 8th graders closed out the long night of football with a 33-14 shellacking. The offense sputtered early but soon found traction in the form of the juggernaut known as Landon Agerton. Agerton scored three touchdowns breaking several tackles on each run and at some point dragging people to the end zone. Tony Garza made his Bobcat debut taking the first offensive play for the Bobcats to the house only to be called back on a very questionable holding call. Garza would not be denied, later scoring on another end around play later in the game. Larsen Richard was the captain of the ship for the game running well between the tackles punching in a touchdown and converting a two point play. Lexon Detwiler had himself a game sealing the edge so his skill guys could do their thing and he also kicked an extra point to score himself some points. The defense was in the back field a majority of the night making any would-be ball handler pay the price. Connor Haley and Agerton anchored this crew making sure the Horns would never be close. Kamden Smith-Slagle also had an interception for the second game in a row and came close to returning this one for a touchdown. These teams look to open up district next week as they go on the road to Hardin to take on the Hornets. There will only be two games next week on Thursday starting at 5:00pm

Congratulations to Orangefield Junior High students Ayden Randall and Reese Richard for earning the first six-week period's "Awesome Attendance Awards"!

Any student with two or fewer absences during the six-week grading period is eligible for the first attendance award. Ayden maintained exceptional attendance and will receive an electric guitar for his consistent positive presence!

The second award recognizes a student from the grade level with the highest overall attendance. Our 6th grade class edged out the 7th and 8th grades by 0.5%. Reese, a 6th grader with outstanding attendance, is taking home a Kindle Fire HD Tablet for her dedication to learning.
