On Tuesday, the OJH Bobcats hosted the Splendora Wildcats for three games to open their season. The combined B-team started the evening with a very close game ending in a 12-12 stalemate. They were led offensively by Wyatt Clubb and Dawsen Revia. Clubb scored both touchdowns and totaled over 100 yards on the afternoon. Revia was under center and commanded the team by making key plays. On defense, the Bobcats were led by William Ayala and Keaton Betros. Ayala had several big hits and kept constant pressure on the opposing quarterback. Betros had an interception and several pass deflections that kept the Wildcats at bay, keeping Orangefield within striking distance. The 7th grade A-team cruised to a 34-12 victory. The Bobcat defense set the tempo early with some devastating hits by Lawrence Steiner and Kaysen Click, forcing the Wildcats to turn the ball over on downs. Click took his first snap and jetted around the edge for a 25-yard touchdown. Kolston Robinson punched in the two-point conversion. For the rest of the night, Click took over the game scoring two more touchdowns and converting three more conversions. Steiner also returned a kick for 64 yards, using his speed to knife through the defense. Major Butler had several long runs, flashing his skills and converting a two-point conversion. Defensively, the Bobcats made several big plays. In the secondary, Kaleb Flory recovered a fumble which was jarred loose by Steiner. Zachary Ellis picked off two Wildcat passes, in addition to handling all kicking duties for the night. Lastly, the 8th grade A-team looked to pick up where they left off last season. The Bobcats got on the board first as Case Comeaux drove his way in from 5 yards out. Gage Lucas would score the next touchdown, using his speed to get the edge with some key blocks from Comeaux and Hunter Reeves. Hunter Block punched in the two-point conversion on a 3-yard scamper. Lucas would go on to score another touchdown around the end with another two-point conversion by Block. The final touchdown was scored on a 45-yard run by Luke Erickson who sped down the sideline, made a jump cut, and coasted into the endzone. Jaxon Agerton would punch it in for two after that to deliver the knockout blow to the Wildcats. Defensively, Dacius Lytle, Kyran Morrow, Block, Erickson, Agerton, and Logan Anderson each took turns battling the air raid all night. New to the staff, Coach Connell, took over the linebacking core led by Smith, Reeves, Lucas, Devin Cook, Grayson Rickenbrode, and John Royer. This group handled the pressure and kept everything in front of them, making sacks when needed and applying pressure at the right times. The Bobcats won 30-14 in a great week one performance. Next week, the Bobcats will be at home against Woodville for two games starting at 5:00 pm.

Welcome Back Bobcats! As some of you may have already noticed, there have been a few changes in our student medication procedures. When state regulations change, we must make changes to remain in compliance. The following is a reminder about our medication procedures: Medication to be given daily will require a doctor’s signature- renewed each school year. A parent note for medications will cover for a 10-day period only, while waiting for doctors’ signature to be obtained. Prescription medication for as needed use, such as inhalers, epi pens, and Diastat will require a doctor’s signature- renewed each school Over the counter medication, for things such as menstrual cramps, will require a parent signature- renewed each school year. Any nursing procedures, such as enteral feedings or catheterizations, will require doctor’s orders- renewed each school year. For your convenience, these medication forms are available on our website, or you may call your campus nurse and ask for one to be sent home with your student.
