🧡🏐Game Day on the road for OJH Volleyball!🏐🧡

OJH Football:
Last week, the Bobcats took to the road for two games in Kirbyville. The 7th grade was looking to keep their undefeated district streak alive and the 8th looking for some revenge from last years route.
The 7th grade started off sluggish yet again but quickly right the ship and cruised to a 36-12 win over the Wildcats. Offensively, the main man was none other than Landon Agerton scoring 3 touchdowns to add to his ridiculous total on the year. Porter Oldham connected with Lexon Detwiler for a score and had another four catch game. Also Larsen Richard ran one in with his tough style of running mixed with precise cuts and vision. Detwiler also went to work on defense shutting down his half of the field off the edge. Richard made big plays in the backfield as well of making tackles sideline to sideline. This group keeps getting better week after week and is making a strong push to be district champions with only 3 games left.
8th grade had last year in mind rolling into this one as it wasn’t even close last year. The size and speed didn’t seem to phase the Bobcats as they fought tooth and nail but came up just short losing 12-15. The “Chosen” Remi Connell had these guys going from the jump as Kaysen Click and Kaiden Curtice commanded their troops on both sides of the ball. These young men had amazing games and gave us the best chance to win. Click ran hard all night long and scored a touchdown in typical Click fashion running over and around all the Wildcat tacklers. Andrew Burt punched one in late to cut the lead bulldozing his way through the line. Kolston Robinson had a handful of sideline catches and weaved his way through the Kirbyville secondary with ease. Time was just not on the Bobcats side as the Wildcats managed to milk the clock in between plays. Defensively, the Bobcats stepped up big as they dug in early to shut down the edge. Lawrence Steiner had a night as he was in the backfield making plays and was unblock-able. Kaleb Flory had a huge goal line interception and several tackles coming downhill from his safety position. Easton Locke was lowering his head even knocking out one of his teeth from one of his devastating blows.
In the end the Wildcats scored on a busted play that should have been blown dead from the start and that was the difference in the ball game. This group fought hard and looks to finish the season strong in the upcoming weeks.
The B team will play 5:30 at home on Tuesday against St Anne’s for a rematch, and Thursday the A groups will face Mauriceville starting at 5:00.

Last night, the mighty fighting Bobcats took on the Coldspring Trojans for two games. Both teams put on a clinic leaving no doubt as to who the superior teams were.
The 7th graders kicked things off with a 30-6 onslaught of the visiting team scoring early and often. Lexon Detwiler led things off scoring from 40 yds out with a sweet pass from Porter Oldham to set the tone of the evening. Larsen Richard wanted a piece of the action as he lowered his shoulder plowing his way through would-be Trojan tacklers scoring a touchdown and converting two of his 2 point tries. Valon Vacek scored his first touchdown of the season with his own punishing run from 32 yards out. And of course, Landon Agerton did what Landon Agerton does, scoring a touchdown showing his speed and strength on a 45 yard run and converting a 2 point try. Defensively, the Bobcats kept the Trojans at bay making tackles all over the field only giving up a their lone score on a trick play. After a very spirited talk from golf guru Remington Connell, the defense stonewalled their opponents for the rest of the night. Brody Pate, Connor Haley, Graham Atkins, Kreed Spears, and Agerton anchored the defense making sure the Bobcats cruised to a victory.
The 8th grade didn’t skip a beat as they trounced the Trojans 36-0. Kaysen Click took this game over running for 2 touchdowns and throwing for another 2. Click had over 120 yards rushing and close to 100 in the air. He connected with Kolston Robinson from 32 yards out and Major Butler from 21 yards out on corner routes that ate up the Coldspring defense. Lawrence Steiner decided to turn on the jets and scored miraculously as he ran the opposite side of where the play was intended. Kaiden Curtice went to work throwing kids around like rag dolls and tackling everything in sight. Steiner, Robinson, Click, and Kaleb Flory had great nights on defense racking up tackles and Flory had a back breaking interception nearly returned for a touchdown. Easton Locke had several pass break ups as he was swatting balls out of the air all night long.
Both these groups will be on the road next week to take on Kirbyville looking to continue their successful season.

Last night the OJH Bobcats took the show on the road to continue their hopes of a District Championship. The seventh graders won a nail biter 22-20 with the eighth losing a tough one 20-0.
The 7th graders started off a little sluggish in this one as they were not ready for the speed of the Panther quarterback. Going down early 7-0 the Bobcats answered quickly with their own score from Landon Agerton. The Panther speedster broke free again score from far out . Porter Oldham would then connect with Traeson Addison to tie it up at 14 after connecting with Lexon Detwiler for the 2 point conversion. Agerton would find his groove in the second scoring again as he flashed his athletic ability while playing through an injury. Oldham would connect with Addison again for the final 2 point conversion of the game which ended up being the deciding factor. Golf legend Remington Connell and coach Babin made brilliant personnel moves on defense allowing the Bobcats to hold down the Panthers making them 2-0 in district play. Larsen Richard anchored the defense Graham Atkins lined up his troops making sure there were not any more easy yards to be gained by Anahuac.
The 8th graders came out ready to avenge last year’s loss to Anahuac. Unfortunately, they sputtered in the first half with a handful of mistakes costing them dearly in key situations throughout the night. For 3 and a half quarters the score was 6-0 after the Panthers scored
on their opening drive. The offense showed sparks of life but never caught fire with Kaysen Click leading the way with 20 carries and over 100 yards. Click kept the Bobcats in it for as long as he could. The Bobcats had their shots but just failed to connect on the big plays when they needed them. The defense went to work after allowing the early score not giving up another till late in the 4th. It was a group effort with all 11 hats flying to the ball. Kolston Robinson, Lawrence Steiner, Tryton Petersen, Zachary Ellis, and Easton Locke all had good games containing the edge and making tackles when they were called upon. Ellis had a huge interception late in the game to give Click another shot on offense. Petersen also came up with a fumble recovery which should have been two but due to some highly questionable at best officiating, it was not. The Bobcats fell 20-0 with score not truly indicating how close of a ball game it was.
Next week these groups will take on the Coldspring Trojans at home for 2 games on Thursday.
